Casa del Sole, Arginese Castle

From the Church of the Immaculate Conception, a sign pointed me down a path enclosed by blank stone walls. This part of the castle is a medieval building made of natural stone. At the same time, it is completely unclear what is behind these walls, there are practically no windows and doors in them.

The next object, the so-called "House of the Sun" (Casa del Sole on the map) was very close. The name of the house comes, as you might guess, from the Temple of the Sun, on the ruins of which it was built. At the entrance to the house, I was finally asked for a ticket - in fact, this is where the tourist route around the castle begins.

The first thing I did was go up to the terrace of the House of the Sun. The location was just perfect for a circular panorama.

From the west, you can see the ruins of the Cathedral of the Assumption (Cattedrale dell'Assunta), destroyed by the shelling of the British squadron.

Behind it stands the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Monastery of St. Mary the Comforter, which we have already visited.

From the south, you can enjoy views of Mount Torrone and the coast of Cartaromana.

On the other side of the terrace is the courtyard of the House of the Sun. Various cultural events are held here.

There is a small cafe on the terrace, but it was still closed at this early hour.

Inside the house there were several small halls where the works of local artists are displayed.

Stone cores. Let me remind you that the island was constantly raided by pirates, and in 1806 it was significantly destroyed as a result of shelling by ships of the British squadron.

Then I went out into the courtyard, where there are rows of metal chairs. Concerts are held here on summer evenings.

From the courtyard, the pointer led me to a wide terrace.

Here I found an ancient well, where I dropped a coin as a souvenir and went on.
