Maritime Museum of Barcelona. Galera Real
Main exhibit of the Museum is Galera "Real" ( Royal) is the flagship of the fleet anti-Ottoman coalition (Holy League) in the battle with the Turkish fleet at Lepanto.
Galera is a 30-canned 2-masted sail-rowing vessel with a narrow shallow-draft hull, this form provided a good speed, but at the expense of stability and seaworthiness. Galleys were used near the coast and went sailing only in calm weather, waiting out a strong emotion in sheltered bays.
Design of the ship was engaged in a famous artist during the Spanish Renaissance by Juan de Mal Lara. The decor was performed in Baroque style and became a real work of art.

Battle of Lepanto took place on 7 October 1571 in the Gulf of Patraikos at Cape Scrofa between the fleets of the Holy League and the Ottoman Empire. "Real" commander-in-chief don Juan of the Austrian on Board was in the center of the battle formation of the fleet of the Holy League. Match "Real" with the Turkish flagship, the galley "Sultana" was one of the key episodes of the battle.
After an exchange of cannon volleys, the result of which was damaged maintop "Real", the ships collided head-on, and the RAM "Sultana" infiltrated "Real" to the fourth bench. A fierce boarding fight lasted about an hour, both leaders came to the aid of other ships. The Spaniards repulsed two attacks of the Turks themselves and the third attempt took over the "Sultana". Don Juan of Austria, clad in glittering armour, showed an example of personal bravery and was wounded in the leg. The Ottoman Admiral Ali Pasha Moazenzadeh was killed in the shootout, his head was severed by a Spanish soldier who planted her on a spike and waved to give her courage comrades. "Sultana" was captured the green banner of the Prophet, presented by Sultan Selim II to Ali Pasha at the beginning of the campaign, and 150,000 gold pieces.

The development of drawings by a group of historians and enthusiasts took several years for old descriptions, drawings and engravings.
on the anniversary of the battle, October 7, 1971, the galley was launched, and then became the exhibit of the Maritime Museum. That is, it is not a model but a complete reconstruction of a sailing and rowing warship of the sixteenth century, the only one at the moment.
