Jean Sibelius — Finnish composer, played a considerable role in all European music. The people he had enormous popularity as the author of the unofficial anthem of Finland free, forbidden during the times of the Russian Empire. Monument in Helsinki was opened in 1967, the tenth anniversary of his death.
Sculptor Eila Hiltunen has immortalized the memory of the great compatriot in the form of a 25-ton structures of the six hundred silver tubes arranged in a wavy pattern - in the view of the artist was the music of Sibelius. The project aroused a lot of controversy, however, the monument was built. Despite the fact that the ambiguous attitude to the monument is preserved to now, it is the most visited tourist attractions in the Finnish capital.
